Jurriaan Löwensteyn is an Amsterdam based artist born in 1971.
After spending his early years working as a set and interior designer for film and television, in 1997 Juriaan started experimenting with photography. Since 2004 the artist systematically explores the artistic potential of analogue photography while also taking part in performances together with Marina Abramovic (Biography Remix) and showcasing installations, including “Greygarden” in cooperation with Uwe Laysiepen at Winston Hotel in 2004, “Monochrome Alley” at a private view in 2012 and “Hairy” during the Art In Red Light event in 2013 at Beurs van Berlage. Since 2012 the artist focuses on experimenting with camera-less photography and the effects of light, color, shadow and transparencies on various photographic surfaces and textures.
